Coffee at the Beacon is the best in town. Single-origin coffee is roasted and blended on-site so you can enjoy your favourite brew in the ambient surroundings of the Beacon coffee shop. From the moment you walk in you can smell the coffee. Choose your blend and then wait for the magic to happen. Those who taste the coffee will want more. You can even buy a large bag of your favourite beans to take home to enjoy in your own home.

Our Single Origin Coffees

Expresso blend

The current espresso blend is a mixture of Guatemalan, Colombian, Brazilian and African coffees. A classic medium roast espresso blend with an African twist. It is a Great Taste Award Winner, with two gold stars in 2018 three in 2016 and two in 2014.

This unique blend of coffee makes a lovely rich, full-bodied cup, which is sweet and chocolatey with just a hint of citrus fruit. This is great as an expresso and goes well with milk. The coffee suits all brew methods from the cafetiere to the aeropress.

Vernal Vibe

A lighter-tasting espresso, which is perfect for spring. It is a little like our espresso blend but lighter, in the depth of roast. As its first introduction was around the time of the Veneral Equinox a long term customer Gareth suggested the name.

The coffees within this are Guatemalan and Ethiopian and it makes a gorgeous espresso that is sweet and chocolatey with a citrus twist.

PNG Firedancer

Grown organically in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea this coffee is a blend of medium and dark roast. Grown in the Okapa District of the Eastern Highlands at an altitude of up to 1750 metres above sea level. Varieties are Typica, Arusha and Bourbon and this is a wet processed coffee, organically grown and Fairtrade. This makes a full-bodied coffee with aromas of spicy chocolate, with dark raisins and plain chocolate mixed in. All this with just a hint of sweet smokiness. This is a bold espresso and made for milk, which highlights the chocolate and makes an excellent flat white.

Columbian Supremo

Colombian coffee varies dramatically, depending on the region it is grown and the degree of roast.  This coffee is grown in the Medellin region of the country where the coffees are generally deeper in flavour and less fruity. This supremo coffee is full flavoured rich with a big taste. Over the last 12 months this coffee has doubled in popularity. It is offered as a medium or dark roasted coffee.

Ethiopian Natural

ROCKO MOUNTAIN has won three golds at the 2021 Great Taste Awards. The judges wrote: ‘Good light to medium roast delivering a rich golden crema. On the tongue, this gives a balanced acidity in a happy blend of soft fruit. Sweet and savoury with a long fruity finish – it is like three coffees in the same cup. Incredibly, milk adds a further dimension: the finish now becomes a fruit creaminess – almost strawberries and cream.

Natural coffees are the seed of a fruit, the coffee cherry and processing refers to the method by which the seeds are removed from the fruit.

Swiss Water Decaf

Brazil Swiss Water Decaffeinated coffee is all the great taste of coffee without the caffeine. Medium roasted with a natural sweetness and slight chocolatey taste. Decaffeinated coffee has come a long way since its invention in 1903. Most decaffeination processes employ chemical solvents such as methylene chloride or ethyl acetate to strip caffeine molecules from the green coffee bean. The Swiss Water Company uses water from the coastal mountains of British Columbia to gently remove the caffeine until the coffee beans are 99 percent caffeine-free while maintaining the distinctive origin and flavour characteristics. You can be sure that no chemicals were used to remove the caffeine from the coffee.  

Tea & Coffee

Served every day from 8:30am to 5pm Monday – Saturday our artisan teas and coffees have been specialiy selected for our discerning customers. We also have a selection of “baked on site” Croissants, pastries, muffins brownies and cakes. Come in, relax enjoy the chilled out atmosphere. With Free WIFI available its also a great place to catch up on those emails or check out your socials. Either way we know you’ll love the comfy environment.

We tried the valentines menu tonight, it’s the first time we’ve been since it’s changed, to be honest we really couldn’t fault it, the food was amazing and the service was equally as good.
